I was given an opportunity to read this e-ARC and it delivered. This was not an overly emotional book but I had a couple times where I felt the sting of sadness and empathy. Definitely got me with a shocking twist towards the end and the dialog made me phycially laugh out loud a few times. This is a YA novel and it did read like one. But you could tell throughout the book the characters were maturing. In my opinion this book had a somewhat fresh take on an Acadamy setting with demons and monsters alike. I spend the first few chapters trying to put together exactly what was going on and then spent a few more chapters waiting to uncover what I had just read. This book kept me wanting to get to the end. There are a few peices I want to know more about so I was pleased to see book two was already in the making. My Kindle says its 359 pages so add it to your TBR and prepare to have a good time. Astar does not disappoint and Mira, having so little to say, was the most mysterious character and I liked her. But the real question I have is, Astar and Nora. Are they destined to each other? Drawn together by power? Or a happy circumstance?
