The second book in The Shepherd King duology and the intensity of the book 1 (One Dark Window) grows immensely. Im not sure if I'd call it an adventure, a mission, or a fight for survival, but these characters pull us right into the mist with them to fight for what is right, love, freedom, and sense of belonging.
The words best to describe this book fail me. Amazing, so well written, left me in awww and wanting more. So many times my jaw dropped in utter shock, so many times I laughed, and I even got a little teary eyed. The journey that had to be taken by each of our main characters was executed and the loop closed so well. I sometimes worry about duologies, especially ones that leave so many unanswered questions in book 1, but nothing to fear here. Rachel Gillig out did herself with this duology. Book 1 was good a wonderful read... Book 2 DAMN a must read. I only got 3 hours of sleep because I was NOT going to bed with only 5 chapters left to go. It was so good I went from laying down to sitting up cheering them on. Though the Nightmare still remains my most favorite character.
